Nivardo Chavez
I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts with a focus on Textile Design from Universidad Catolica in Lima Peru, where I learned the fundamentals of weaving techniques, color theory, and design principles. This program provided me with a solid foundation in the artistic processes and craftsmanship necessary for creating textiles.

Workshops and Classes:
I have participated in various workshops and classes centered around traditional weaving techniques, natural dyeing, and fiber arts. Notable workshops include Centro de textiles artesanales del Cusco that have deepened my understanding of the craft and allowed me to refine my skills.

Mentorship:
I have been fortunate to work alongside experienced artisans who have guided me in my artistic development. Their mentorship provided invaluable insights into the intricacies of weaving and the cultural significance of the techniques I employ in my work.

Self-Directed Learning:
In addition to formal training, I am committed to continuous learning. I regularly explore books, online resources, and tutorials related to weaving and dyeing techniques to stay updated with new trends and methods in the craft.
Through this blend of education and practice, I have developed a strong artistic voice in the realm of textile arts, with a focus on creating handwoven, naturally dyed frazada blankets that reflect both tradition and innovation.
