Cultivations
Farmer
Cultivations is a specialty cut flower farm. We strive to produce unique, seasonal, high quality local flowers. At Cultivations, we do not purchase plugs to grow out flowers, but start our own plants from seeds. We produce nearly 100 varieties of cut flowers. We sell our flowers in bulk buckets, straight bunches, and as mixed market bouquets.
Integrated Pest Management Use Only Organic Materials Crop Rotation
Cultivations flower farm uses sustainable and organic farming methods. As we learn about new and practical methods of farming, we research and incorporate them into our farm. For example, we use soil blocking to reduce plastic waste. We also work hard to build up the soil structure using organic material, cover crops, and low-till methods. Drip irrigation is in place in order to conserve water resources.
Nicole Lin
Nicole Lin started this business out of a personal passion for flowers. She has worked in the plant nursery and landscaping industry for the past 15 years. She started her career working at a 33 acre plant nursery in Montana during high school. She then worked at a citrus/sub-tropical nursery and as an urban farmer in Los Angeles during college. After that, she went on to help start a raspberry plantation in Bosnia before settling down in Cedar Rapids and working as a landscaper. Nicole believes that there is a vast array of unique cut flowers that are underutilized because they are not grown on a global commercial scale. This flower farm is truly a labor of love for her.
