Sibeiho is a Singapore Food Start Up based in Portland. We pays homage to our Singaporean food heritage. We make artisanal food from family recipes. We hand make our food the traditional way - just like the way our grandmothers made them.
We take a stand against unnatural preservatives, MSG, enhancers, colors and fillers. We do not use palm oil and choose healthier alternatives like organic canola and olive oil. Through a labor of love and slow cooking, we coax complex flavors from the finest Pacific Northwest ingredients has to offer to re-create the tastes of our childhood. Through Sibeiho, we hope to share our heritage with the foodie community in Portland.
Singapore has moved into a new era where local food had quietly become an amalgamation of factory-made products, and we began to fall out of love with many of our favourite dishes. Nasi Lemak was one of them.
Nasi lemak is a Malay fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf. It is commonly found in Malaysia, where it is considered the national dish; it is also the native dish in neighbouring areas with significant Malay populations such as Singapore; Brunei, and Southern Thailand.
We want to share our food taste memories for Nasi Lemak with portlandias here at Portland's Farmers Market.
SiBeiHo - Patricia & Holly
In the lands of the Pacific Northwest, two Singaporean friends discovered a little city called Portland. As they explore the city framed by the snow cones of Mount Hood and the rushing waters of the Willamette river, they found a bountiful land of fresh produce and passionate foodies.
Although far from their home island, they hope to celebrate and share their taste memories from their childhoods and travels to those who love food, family and friends as much as they do.
