About

WIT Farm is a small, family owned farm based in central Ohio. Kyle and Jamie are first generation farmers (well...first generation since their great grandparents) focused on humanely raised livestock, healthy perennial pastures and honoring the meat provided by the livestock. The farm has two philosophies: the farm's name, WIT, stands for Whatever it Takes and Local. Pasture Raised. Loved.

Whatever It Takes
This was Kyle's battalion motto in the Marines and applies itself perfectly to the farm. Whether it means hauling buckets of water in the middle of a snow storm or bottle feeding a piglet (in the house!), we will do whatever it takes to ensure the livestock will be happy and healthy.

Local
Everything we do happens right in the state of Ohio. Birds are sourced in Cincinnati. Hogs in Bloomington. Our all non-GMO feed is from a bicentennial farm in Pleasantville. All of the animals are processed in Baltic. You can find our meat in Clintonville, German Village or delivered all over the greater Columbus area!

Pasture Raised
After a short quarantine period for the hogs or 3 weeks of brooding for the birds all animals are out on lush pasture. This is extremely important for a few reasons. For one - animals are meant to be outside! And will always choose to be outside over stuck in a cramped barn. It's hard to believe until you see a pile of pigs covered in snow when they have a perfectly good (and warm!) hut empty. Meat quality and nutrition is also raised when livestock is raised on pasture. Birds consume more than just grain - they adore insects, fresh greens and stretching out their legs. In the fall the hogs hoover up all of the acorns and walnuts found in their wooded pasture. In the pork it creates a redder, better marbled cut of meat.

Loved
Our livestock are truly loved beyond their basic needs for shelter, feed and water. The hogs are given scratches, belly rubs and names. As of this writing we have 22 hogs, all with names. Test us anytime! The birds technically all have a name - but according to our youngest they've all been named after him.
