How many people know what soap really is?
Did you know that MOST of the soaps you purchase in a big box store is actually detergent, and not actually soap?
They are called syndet bars, or more specifically synthetic detergent bars. They are made from synthesized chemicals and are usually mush harsher than actual true soap. Detergents contain petroleum distillates rather than oils. Chemical foaming agents are used such as sodium lauryl sulfate in these cleansing agents.
True soaps are made from NATURAL oils, such as olive oil, coconut, grape seed and palm oils and is a gentle cleansing agent that
cleans and moisturizes our skin.
Soaps unlike detergents are made by combining sodium hydroxide (Lye), natural and pure oils and either water or milk in a process called soaponification. Some people
may worry about the lye in handcrafted soaps, but the fact is that ALL soaps contains lye. What needs to be understood is that once the process of soaponification is complete, the lye and oil molecules combine
and chemically change into soap and glycerin. Glycerin is extracted from MANY of the commercial "soap" sold in big box stores and sold to pharmaceutical companies!
A fantastic benefit of Orchard Creek soaps is that they contain Oberhasli/Saanen and Alpine goat milk. Goats milk makes it extremely moisturizing. Goat milk soap has a pH balance that is VERY close to that of a humans skin pH, this allows our skin to breath naturally without clogging pores. Goat milk soap also contains capric-capryllic triglyceride, this oil helps moisturize the skin and goat milk is the ONLY milk that contains it.
Here at Orchard Creek Farm our goat milk soap is handcrafted in very small batches, using FRESH whole milk straight from our loving registered, disease free dairy goats, each bar contains 1.5 oz of pure goat milk!
