Yummy chum chum begin its journey in 2023 with a dream and a determination to prefect the art of macaron-making. For the owner crafting these delicate French treats was no easy fate it took approximately three months of trial, error, and persistence to mass of the process From achieving the perfect crisp shell to balancing flavor and fillings, every step was a labor of love.
What started as an idea soon turned into a thriving business, fueled by the joy and support of customers who couldn’t get enough of these handcraft confections. Today, yummy chum chum is known for his vibrant, flavorful macaroons that bring smiles to everyone who tries them.
The journey hasn’t just began about mastering a recipe it’s been about creating moments of happiness, building a community of macarons lovers, improving the passion and perseverance can lead to sweet success. From those first batches to now, yummy chum chum has come a long way and it’s only the beginning!
Cheri James
My name is Cheri James, and I am a Detroit native, healthcare professional, and entrepreneur with a passion for serving others and building something meaningful of my own.
For nearly seven years, I have had the opportunity to work in Detroit’s 911 emergency medical system. Working in EMS has allowed me to serve people during some of the most difficult and vulnerable moments of their lives. It is a career that has taught me compassion, patience, responsibility, discipline, and the importance of being there for others when they need help the most. Every day is different, and the experiences I have gained throughout my years in emergency medical services have played a major role in shaping the person and business owner I am today.
Entrepreneurship has also always been close to my heart because I come from a family of entrepreneurs. Growing up around people who believed in creating opportunities for themselves showed me the value of hard work, determination, independence, and turning an idea into something real. Watching members of my family pursue their own businesses helped plant that entrepreneurial spirit in me long before I started a business of my own.
That spirit eventually led me to create Yummy Chum Chum LLC, my macaron business. What began with my love for baking and creating unique desserts has grown into something much bigger. I specialize in cheesecake-inspired macarons and enjoy taking a classic French cookie and adding my own creative personality and flavors to it. Building Yummy Chum Chum has required patience, learning, sacrifice, and plenty of trial and error, but seeing my business continue to grow makes the journey worthwhile.
One of the things I am most proud of is being able to balance two very different worlds. In one part of my life, I serve my community through emergency medical services. In another, I get to express my creativity through baking and entrepreneurship. Although they may seem completely different, both have taught me the same lesson: serving people matters.
My journey is still being written. I want Yummy Chum Chum to continue growing, reach more customers, and eventually become a recognizable brand that people associate with quality, creativity, and delicious macarons. I also hope my story encourages other people who have an idea or a dream to start somewhere, even if they do not have everything figured out yet.
I am proud of where I come from, proud of the work I have done serving Detroit, and proud to continue the entrepreneurial legacy that has been a part of my family. I am excited to see where this next chapter takes me and Yummy Chum Chum.
