Sol Raye Family Farms INC

Sol Raye Family Farms grows organically minded specialty produce in the historic village of Balderson.
The farm is run by Zachary and Jerry Zeifman, and has operated in Balderson after relocating from York Region since 2020.

Under greenhouses and through field production. The farm grows Physalis fruit including ground cherries and tomatillos, as well as being one of the only commercial producers of true to form Peruvin Golden Berries in Ontario. Sol Raye Family Farms hopes to continue researching these specialty niche crops, to further increase awareness of horticultural practices and economic viability with respect to commercial production of Golden Berries in Canada.

Sol Raye Family Farms also has a special interest in the production of hot peppers and crafting hot sauce, as well as future goals of pepper seed stabilizing and breeding efforts. The farm grows 3 acres of Jalapeño, Serrano, Fresno, Cayenne, Scotch Bonnet, Habanero, Ghost, and Shishito peppers which are sold to other artisanal hot sauce makers, restaurants, and grocers.

Other crops grown on the farm include winter squash, beets, culinary and medicinal herbs, as well as a small variety of cut flowers.

Sol Raye Family Farms produces a line of medicinal herb transplants, which include Longevity Spinach, Holy Basil, Lavender, Rosemary, Aloe, Gotu Kola, Bacopa, African Power Cres, menthol plant, as well as many others continually being trialed. Sol Raye Family Farms also grows a small variety of spring veggie plug transplants.

The farm continues it's efforts towards sustainability and land improvement practices through ongoing projects related to beneficial perennial hedgerows around areas of annual crop production, and the establishment of flower/ornamental botanical gardens. The farm also aims and aspires to slowly foster and facilitate a space and place for agro-tourism through many ongoing collaboratively community centered efforts.
