About

When we were merely teenagers, our father rescued his first beehive from a construction site in Miami. He took the hive, placed it in a makeshift hive box, and set them in our backyard in the town of Carol City. Our passion and curiosity grew to almost 36 hives within a few years but by then we were in a rural town in Central Florida. Unfortunately, fate had other plans for us when we lost our home, our hives, our jobs, and what seemed like everything due to the Great Recession of 2008. When you fall, you brush yourself off, and get back on your feet.
It took us a bit but we’re back up and we are starting all over. We are starting over with a few hives in Seffner who are actively working on growing and preparing for the upcoming season. Once they are up and running, we will be offering delicious wildflower honey to the Tampa population as well as all the other fine honey that other beekeepers have to offer. Florida has so much to offer us and one of those wonders is pure raw Florida honey. We are passionate about our honey and we want to share that passion with everyone.

Hi! I am one of the beekeepers of our backyard bee farm and the one who claims to be the CEO of The Americana Miel. The concept of Queen Bea derived from Rosie the Riveter. The worker bees are all females and they work extremely hard to care for the young, protect the hive, and feed the hive. Similarly, women work their gluteus maximus off to get things done. So why not personify the queen and worker bees as Rosie!? The name of “The Americana Miel” was a Spanglish thought. I loved it and now we’re here. I love the art of beekeeping and to taste the varieties of honey across the world. I have a Bachelors in Economics from the University of Tampa and a Master’s in Business Administration from Saint Leo University. I am also a proud Air Force Reservist. I am a board member of my favorite non-profit organization RAMWI (Refugee and Migrant Women Initiative). And finally, I am a wife to my boo and a mom to an awesome boy and a furry little chaweenie.
