Alex is now 25 and well received from Autism. He has worked very hard to overcome social, verbal issues and managed to recover his words and find ways to manage anxiety born of social settings. He completed high school and a 2-year program at Rowan University in NJ. During Covid the family moved to Venice, FL where he continued his education online, obtained OSHA and Food safety and preparation certificates. This year he obtained his driver’s license. But he still could not get job offers even though he developed lots of worthy skills. So, he decided to create his own company and employ his friends who are going through the same challenge. Because of his anxiety and skin sensitivity he uses lots of creams and lotions but most on the market are irritant to him. He began a quest for natural, gentle products for himself. He also learned how to make candles and lotions. This gave him the idea to start his own business and share with others the products that help him relax and feel good.
With every market opportunity, his small business grows a little bit more. He has engaged with his close friends who also struggle with the same challenges. Their goals is not to make lots of money; it is to come together and create a special working environment where they can feel free to be themselves.
Alex is now developing "touchless" clothing; tops and pants made of very soft material built so that seams are not felt and opened above the shoulders, elbows and knees to prevent the rubbing sensation that makes it difficult to wear commercial clothing. Because these items are built so they wrap around the body instead of having to “step into them”, they are also well suited for people recovering from injuries. Alex was inspired by traditional Japanese clothing; he is in the process of making a line of clothes that are not only fit for people with a “special need for comfort” but also stylish.
His products include creams, skin butters, lotions, soaps, scents and candles as well as T-Shirts. His products are sold separately but he also offers them in gift boxes that he puts together himself to allow his customers to sample all of his products. In the boxes he includes a free gift of scented and handmade candles for family and caregivers.
