Trotta Foods is a family affair that grew from a pasta-making business run out of Ed Trotta’s parents’ kitchen in the Bronx in 1955 to the Italian grocery that Ed now runs with his wife and children in Thornwood, NY. In the 1950s Anna and Al Trotta made fresh pasta that they sold wholesale to neighborhood restaurants. “It was their life's dream,” Ed says “I'm just helping out.” While he may be humble, Ed has since made Trotta Foods a destination for a range of Italian specialties. “We have expanded the "factory", as we lovingly refer to it, from its small storefront to a fully equipped facility capable of producing other homemade products such as sauces, soups, sausage, fresh mozzarella, as well as many varieties of ravioli and other pasta.”
At the farmers market you will usually find Ed himself at the stand offering expert cooking tips and talking up his newest pasta shape and seasonal ravioli filling. Look for classic and filled pastas, fresh sauces, handmade mozzarella and more.
