Family Roots Farm is a 4th generation heirloom farm, in operation since 1896. Our farm is proud to be certified naturally grown, organic and biodynamic. The standard is referred to as Organic Plus. Our commitment to sustainable, green and chemical/gmo- free farming is paramount. We have 4 season’s of organic and heirloom product offerings. Spring brings us our maple syrup, green garlic and scapes, followed by Summer which is our specialty gourmet organic garlic in 10-plus varieties, as well as heirloom tomatoes, peppers, greens and beans. Fall starts our organic apple and pear ciders, applesauce, eating and decorating pumpkins, and homemade canned goods and of course our garlic. Winter we offer our homemade canned goods, late-season garlic, black garlic and garlic powder as well as garlic seed pre-orders for the upcoming planting season. We are proud members of The Organic Trade Assoc, Woman Who Farm, CNG, Biodynamic Farming Assoc, Agrilicious, Non-GMO Project as well as Ark of Taste varietal farm. We added our farm to the Western Reserve Land Concervancy in 2016 and is listed in the national registry of century farms. All of our products are tended to and produced, by hand, with the upmost love and care. We also offer consulting services for the at-home gardenining enthusiast or micro-farms getting started. The Sharpnack’s purchased the farm off of Jennifer’s late Grandfather Duane Root in 2015. Rod brings to the farm his background and education in Biology and Conservation. Jennifer’s background is heavily in family agriculture specializing in biodynamic practices as well as business administration. The farm donates the extra crops that go unsold to the St. Augustine Church food bank- one of the largest church-run food banks in Ohio as well as do anonymous food basket deliveries to those that local school districts have on their needy-families list. They offer free local delivery and ship anywhere in the continental United States. When they are not in the fields you can find them in their barn test kitchen or at Shaker Farm Markets and National Garlic Festivals.
