Chef Dee
Denise is the author of two healthy living cookbooks, Meatless Soul Food and Vegan Comfort Food. She is a passionate speaker on women’s health issues. She is co-author and creator of the Health &Wellness Lifestyle Change manual and program used in the organization’s six-week training classes. She has coordinated and conducted Lifestyle Change classes in underserved communities for over 2,800 minority women and children. She has conducted healthy cooking classes for many community projects including the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Health Empowerment Tour in Charlotte, Novo Nordisk Pharmaceutical Community Health Project, and Live Well Carolinas. She has been a guest speaker on radio and television programs in Missouri and North Carolina; including NPR, CBS, and NBC to discuss meatless cooking and women’s health issues. Denise is actively involved in the community, serving on boards of the American Heart Association, Presbyterian Hospital Congregational Health Promotion, and Mecklenburg County Healthy Weight Healthy Child Coalition. Denise received culinary training at Johnson & Wales University, CPCC Culinary program, and Higher Path Vegan Vegetarian Cooking School. She is a former Restauranteur, and is currently a Vegan Chef for Dee’s Vegan To-Go Catering.
