Richmonder Susan Martinson created this product in her kitchen as a shortcut while making a Mojito: the Cuban classic made by muddling fresh mint leaves with granulated sugar in a tall glass, adding fresh lime juice & rum, and then stirring until the sugar dissolved. Rather than going through those steps, she simply tossed a handful of mint into into a pot of boiling simple syrup and let them steep - as though they were tea leaves. The resulting syrup captured the unmistakable flavor, color, and aroma of freshly-picked mint: there's just nothing like it! Save your fresh leaves for use as a garnish; add a KISS instead!
