Fisherman and the Farmer LLC

We sell prepackaged frozen seafood processed at a NC Dept of Agriculture inspected facility in Hatteras Village on NC's Outer Banks. We then pick up produce while out on the mainland and bring it back to Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands.

Hatteras is a small fishing village on the southern end of Hatteras Island. I grew up here alongside many of the hard working fisherman that call this place home. My suppliers, Jeffery's seafood, has a small fish house that supports a modest fleet of independent family fisherman. On any given day there could be a dozen or so fisherman bringing in their catch while also acting as a conduit selling the catch coming up from the Ocracoke Fishermans Co-op. The processing facility is onsite and everything is cleaned, packed and frozen steps from the docks. This leads to a very high quality product that supports small scale fisheries and year-round jobs that aren't dependent on tourism, both of which are dwindling here.
On the other end of the business, we use the seafood to justify the expense of transporting produce back to the communities that provide the fish. Hatteras and Ocracoke have a dearth of fresh produce and we aim to change that. Our goal is helping people eat better wherever we go.
