Joannie (pronounced Joe-Annie) Villegas is originally from Houston, Texas, but is so excited to bring her family recipes, traditions, and Mexican culture to Central New York. She moved to Syracuse in December 2016. In 2024, Brujas Aguas Frescas was featured on Syracuse.com twice for her first event, Taste of Syracuse 2024, once as a new vendor feature and a second time as part of 20 items tasted in the first hour.
Joannie is a former teacher, Chief Happiness Officer, assistant marketing director, and communications specialist. Joannie is a mother of 3 amazing sons and one anxious wiener dog, and grandmother to two beautiful human babies and three fur babies. She is a bruja who loves cooking, baking, gardening, writing, and traveling. She loves to talk about her Mexican culture, food, and traditions.
