We are a micro artisan bakery, in Oceana County, owned and operated by Hilde and Charlie Muller.
We specialize in handcrafted SOURDOUGH breads and rustic pastries baked in a wood-fired brick oven.
We use 100% organic flours and grains as well as many other organic and local ingredients.
Our beautiful breads, leavened with a sourdough starter, develop for an average of 20 hours, resulting in nutritious loaves that boast complex textures and flavors.

Hilde and Charlie Muller
We are a small artisan bakery in rural Oceana County that opened in 2010. We produce 12--14 varieties of hand-crafted sourdough bread each week (baked in a wood-fired brick oven). We also bake rustic pastries including scones, cookies, brownies, Morning Buns, and more! Available weekly at the Muskegon Farmers Market. Our bakery is not open to the public.
Both Charlie and Hilde baked in other venues prior to their endeavor as Laughing Tree. Charlie built brick ovens in California with the renowned oven builder Alan Scott. He also baked at Cress Spring Bakery in Wisconsin and ran the Ypsilanti Sourdough Bakery (Michigan) for several years. Hilde enjoyed a five year tenure at Zingerman's Bakehouse in Ann Arbor where she worked both in bread production and in retail sales.
