Hi, I'm Mariah. I graduated from Iowa State in 2014 with a degree in Horticulture: Food Crop Production and Management. For the last 10 years, I've lived in various states around the US operating and managing diverse growing operations from organic greenhouse tomatoes (Texas) to controlled environment agriculture (indoor growing - Washington). I have integrated years of knowledge and different career experiences to create FarmBaby's approach to farming.

In February of 2023, I moved back to Iowa to put my plan into motion. Over the course of 2023, I spent the majority of my time working on infrastructure projects on the farm in Lucas, Ia. This included water and electric lines, establishment of growing plots + cover cropping, and building a 40 foot shipping container into a 'bootstrapped' state-of-the-art grow room for microgreens, baby greens and roots. I have been selling directly to DSM area restaurants since July 2023.

FarmBaby uses all organic growing methods, I keep records, and follow all NOP guidelines. I am considering organic certification in the future. This year, I am focusing on learning all about the growing conditions on my farm, and cultivating the relationships that will help support my long-time dream.

Becoming an occasional vendor for the DSM market will allow FarmBaby to reach a wider audience, while providing stellar, female grown local produce. Seed are started and I'm ready to roll - Check out FarmBaby on Instagram @farmbaby_ia. Website coming soon!
