Ancestreal Market’s goal is to provide nutrient dense and bioavailable food using traditional food preparation methods that our ancestors used. Right now, our focus is on providing baking mixes (cookies, muffins, scones, biscuits, etc.) and prepared foods (dried pastas and crackers) made from organic heirloom grains that we sprout and mill on a weekly basis. Our goal is to expand into sprouting and milling our own oats (granola, oatmeal, rolled oats, oatmeal cookie mix, etc.) as well as into making homemade potato chips using heirloom potatoes that are cooked in grass fed beef tallow, duck fat, and pork lard.
We will use local ingredients whenever possible for making the pasta, chips, etc., however, the Virginia climate is not conducive to most heirloom grains, therefore, we have to source them from the upper midwest.
