Millard South Spring Craft Fair
Fair
We are a non-profit organization made up of parent volunteers. We work tirelessly around the year preparing the theme, what food the kids will want, marketing the event to get parents and business to donate or volunteer, raising money, decoration prepping, entertainment planning, etc. Our Post Prom event is held right after prom from 12am - 4am. We provide a safe place for typically 800 kids to continue having fun. Our approximate budget for this event is $35,000. So it takes a lot of help to pull this off. We need parents from ALL student age groups! It takes a VILLAGE!!!
Where did post prom begin?
The popularity of post-prom parties increased in the 1980’s. Concerns about underage drinking got parents thinking about providing safe afterprom alternatives. After a 1984 prom-night tragedy involving two Millard South students further stoke concerns. After attending prom, Beth Ann Brooks, 17, and Brian McEwen, 20, were killed when the Jeep Wagoneer that McEwen was driving plunged into a Sarpy County creek. The bridge had been removed to make way for the further Wehrspann Lake. Their bodies were not found for three weeks.
