About

The African People’s Education and Defense Fund's One Africa! One Nation! Farmers Market is open weekly every Saturday from April through October. Located in the heart of the historically black community of North St. Louis, the One Africa! One Nation! Farmers Market is an oasis of the community with a beautiful outdoor space, event stage and the Gary Brooks Black Power community garden. The Farmers Market is a project of the Black Power Blueprint, addressing the issues of concentrated poverty, food apartheid, and grave health disparities. The market is building capacity for local job creation and has instilled a community-based approach to black empowerment and economic development. We offer training to community residents on how to become market vendors and we train volunteers in all aspects of the market work.

Additional Location Information:

The One Africa! One Nation! Farmers Market is located in the beautiful O'Fallon neighborhood in North St Louis across from the Uhuru House rental hall and community center. You can't miss us: Just look for the 50' flagpole flying the red, black and green African flag!

History of OAON Farmers Market: The Black Power Blueprint purchased and demolished two city-owned condemned buildings, then secured architectural and landscape plans to create a beautiful multi-purpose outdoor event space with native plants and trees.

A mural depicting the historic kindness and generosity of the African community collectively taking care of ourselves has been commissioned and will be completed in 2022.

The One Africa! One Nation! Marketplace fosters community commerce and economic opportunities. The Gary Brooks Black Power Community Garden is collaborating with other black growers to provide fresh vegetables and to hold gardening and cooking classes.

The market is one of the many projects of the Black Power Blueprint - a comprehensive neighborhood revitalization plan by and for the black community.
