Marketspread uses vendor types to categorize vendors across markets. A vendor self-designates their vendor type when they create a vendor profile. Vendor type definitions are as follows (vendors, if you are unsure which vendor type applies to you, ask the market manager of the market you are applying to what they reccomend):
Farmer
A vendor that grows 100% of his/her own products, AND who owns, leases or operates a farm, dairy, orchard, greenhouse, nursery, poultry farm or raises livestock. This includes those who produce products made completely or predominantly of ingredients and materials grown on or gathered from their farm, dairy, orchard, garden, greenhouse, nursery, apiary or forest.
Farmer/Dealer
A vendor that grows less than 100% but more than 50% of his/her own products, AND who owns, leases or operates a farm, dairy, orchard, greenhouse, nursery, poultry farm or raises livestock. This includes those who produce products made completely or predominantly of ingredients and materials grown on or gathered from their farm, dairy, orchard, garden, greenhouse, nursery, apiary or forest.
Dealer
Any vendor that buys and resells produce.
Specialty Food Artisian
A vendor that processes specialty food items for resale. Generally the items must be manufactured or finished with locally grown ingredients. The specialty category includes items like: Processed Produce, Baked Goods, Dairy, Eggs, Jams, Jellies, Honey, Syrup, Sauces, Coffee, Meat, Seafood or Poultry.
Food Truck
Any vendor that sells items prepared for immediate consumption on or off the premises via a food truck licensed by the appropriate authority. This can include Ready to Eat Meals, Hot Foods, Sandwiches, Salads, Cut Fruit, Ice Cream, Coffee, Smoothies.
Food Cart
Any vendor that sells items prepared for immediate consumption on or off the premises via a food cart licensed by the appropriate authority. This can include Ready to Eat Meals, Hot Foods, Sandwiches, Salads, Cut Fruit, Ice Cream, Coffee, Smoothies.
Served/To Go Foods
Those who sell food that is freshly made and available for immediate consumption on-site. This does not include Food Trucks.
Material Goods/Craft/Flea/Art
Products that are not plant, flower or food. Including, but not limited to handmade/produced goods, antiques, collectibles, clothing, jewelry, accessories, art/decorations, hobbies and tools or other items made, enhanced/augmented or offered for resale.
Organization
An organization represents a group or cause. For example this could be boy/girl scouts, Red Cross, a local advocacy group or similar. An organization can be a non-profit but does not necessarily need to be.
Sponsor
A sponsor represents a group providing additional resources to the market, such as, money or equipment.
Fisher/Seafood
A fisher represents someone who catches fish and other marine life to be sold and consumed.
Service
A service represents someone who performs a task for a fee, such as, knife sharpening.
Entertainment
Entertainment such as a music band.
Exhibitor
A person or group who displays items of interest at an exhibition
Youth Vendor
A proprietor that is UNDER 18 years old. Refer to local and market regulations for any additional restrictions.
Other
A vendor that doesn't fit in any other of the vendor types. If you are close to fitting into another type, preferably you will want to select it (some markets do not allow other).
