About

Madison Schott is a ceramic artist who prides herself in pushing the boundaries of functional ceramics. She's studied and made ceramics for over 5 years and her work challenges the narrative of "craft" or "hobby" ceramics. She pushes her work to be fine art worthy of a museum but accessible and affordable enough to be your kitchen. She gets her inspiration from flowers and vegetation. She makes functional pottery with delicate slip drawings on the outside. Her work has been exhibited at “Function Fest” in New Orleans and the “Paper and Clay” exhibition at Utah State University. She has also curated two group shows. One was a fusion show with Ceramics and Printmaking called “Ink and Clay” in Jacksonville Florida. The other was “Art of Function” also in Jacksonville. She has been the President of the University of North Florida’s Ceramics guild for a year and recently received a grant from the University of North Florida’s Dean Leadership Council to test mason stains on porcelain slip fired in the wood kiln.
