I'm a local author and debut novelist, and my fiction grows straight out of my classroom. For nearly ten years, I've worked as a special education teacher for students with severe disabilities — children whose voices the world too often overlooks. That work shapes every page I write.
My first novel, The Color of Silence, follows Darius, a nonverbal boy in 1930s Atlanta, and the mother who refuses to stop reaching for him. While Darius sleeps, a dragon named Azure escorts him through a dream realm where the words locked inside him slowly come loose. It's the first book in a planned trilogy.
