Mommy’s Planet is a Vancouver-based South Indian food brand founded by Rashmi, a new immigrant from Bangalore, India. What began as small-batch cooking alongside a full-time job has grown into a vibrant journey across food trucks, third-party delivery platforms, direct website orders, festivals, private catering, and hands-on dosa-making workshops across the Lower Mainland, British Columbia.
Known for bringing authentic Bangalore-style flavors to the community, Mommy’s Planet has served customers at UBC, Downtown Vancouver, Metrotown, Robson Square, summer festivals, Namaste Canada, Surrey Urban Farmers Market, and is now stepping into the Vancouver Farmers Market.
Today, Mommy’s Planet operates on a seasonal model. During market season, you’ll find us serving fresh, hot dosas at farmers markets, summer festivals, and private events with our live dosa counter. Year-round, we offer naturally fermented dosa batter that tastes just like home through flexible monthly subscription plans with weekly deliveries across the Lower Mainland.

Mommy’s Planet produces all food in a licensed commercial kitchen in Vancouver, following all local health and safety regulations. Our dosa batter is naturally fermented in small batches using traditional South Indian methods, without preservatives, to ensure freshness, quality, and authenticity.
We prioritize sourcing ingredients locally wherever possible, including produce like potatoes, onions, and herbs, while using essential South Indian staples from trusted suppliers to maintain authentic flavor profiles.
All menu items are prepared fresh for each market, with dosas made to order on-site to ensure quality and customer experience. We are committed to minimizing waste by planning production carefully and using eco-friendly, compostable packaging at markets.
Our goal is to combine traditional techniques with responsible, small-scale production practices that support both quality food and the local community.
Rashmi Kondaiah
I’m Rashmi Kondaiah, the founder and chef behind Mommy’s Planet. I moved to Vancouver from Bangalore, India three years ago and started this business while working a full-time job, building everything from scratch without any prior network in the local food industry. Mommy’s Planet has been completely bootstrapped from day one.
Over the past two years, I’ve grown Mommy’s Planet through food trucks, farmers markets, summer festivals, private catering, hands-on dosa-making workshops, and dosa batter subscriptions across the Lower Mainland. With a Master’s in Media and Communication and a strong background in digital marketing, I’ve also built an engaged Instagram community that consistently shows up to support me at events across the city.
My goal has always been to bring authentic Bangalore-style flavors to the community while creating a space where people can connect through food.
Today, I continue to build Mommy’s Planet through a seasonal market presence and a year-round dosa batter subscription model, with a strong focus on quality, consistency, and community.
