About

Canal Village Farmers' Market began in 2015 in Medina, NY. The town is located on the Erie Canal and has a great historic district. Medina is famous for Sandstone quarried locally and used to build many beautiful churches in Western New York. The markets goal is -
• To promote the sale of fresh fruits, vegetables, plants, and other locally harvested goods.
• To provide a direct marketing outlet for local agricultural produce and products.
• To stimulate activity in Medina’s downtown business district.
• To foster social gathering and community involvement.
• To foster the agricultural culture of Medina and the surrounding region.

Additional Location Information:

The market is in a very large old sandstone building on the Erie Canal. No matter the weather the market will be dry and warm in the winter and shady and cool in the summer. There is parking in front of the building and it is in downtown Medina in the heart of the historic district. Many restaurants and other small stores are on the same street. So much to do so close.

I retired from IBM as a Business Analyst in 2013 and wanted to be more involved in Medina activities. The previous farmer's market was closing in 2015 and I volunteered to help run a new farmers' market along with a few other volunteers. Having grown up on a vegetable/fruit farm, I know how difficult it can be to find buyers for produce. My goal is that the farmers' market provides a place for local farmers and other small businesses to sell their produce and their products.
