Three Way Farms
Threeway Farms is a century farm that had been in operation as a raiser of livestock, grain crops, and vegetables since its beginnings. The farm is located in Westmoreland County in the Northern Neck of Virginia which is a peninsula surrounded by the Rappahannock and Potomac Rivers and boarded by the Chesapeake Bay on the south.
The climate and soil is ideal for vegetable production. In 1976 it's present owner, Al Smith, took 50 acres for the sale and production of vegetables. It started out as a whole sale business but gradually transmitted to retail sales with limited wholesale sales. The farm operates a seasonal roadside stand on the premises and currently attends three Northern Virginia Markets which includes Mt. Vernon, Falls Church, and Del Ray.
We try and take pride in presenting our costumers with good, fresh produce according to seasonal growing conditions. My sales staff and myself have met and built meaningful relationships with may of our costumers at all market locations. Farming practices include IPM (Integrated Pest Management) with as little pesticide and fungicide use as possible. Crop rotations, irrigation, use of pollinators such as honey bees are practiced as well. Sometimes weather conditions and insect infections warrants the use of spraying and when done are followed strictly by Virginia Tech Commercial Grower's Handbook which is revised on a yearly basis.
