Elk Run Vineyards
Farmer/Dealer
Elk Run was established in 1979 by Fred and Carol Wilson and Neill Bassford as a Subchapter S partnership. Fred and Carol raised four children on the property and they have all been involved in the business. Elk Run is the third oldest wine business in Maryland and has won more than 600 local, national and international awards for their wines.
Our goal has always been to produce grapes and wines of the highest quality. We only grow grapes from the vinifera grape genetic family like Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot. We improve ultimate quality through practices such as reducing crop load through heavy pruning in winter and "green harvest" crop reduction in summer.
