Bert's Bakery is a completely Gluten-Free and Nut-Free home bakery. I have always had a passion for baking, especially baking to fit special dietary needs! In our household dietary restrictions rule our menu which is why I bake to help others work around theirs. Bert's Bakery offers a variety of cookies and bread - including sweet, quick, and artisan styles.

My name is Shelby, or Bert.. whichever you prefer! I am a Kansas native but have been happily living in Iowa for the past year and a half. I graduated from Kansas State University in 2019 with a degree in Bakery Science. Yes, crazy as it sounds, it is a real degree and I love all things baking! After college, I followed my career to Cedar Rapids. I live in a house with the ones who make me the happiest girl in the world, Jake and our fur baby, Presley. She tends to run our world!
I was diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2018 and it changed my eating habits completely. I learned to cook in different ways, especially when it came to my sweet tooth. I have spent long hours learning what works best and how to make Gluten-Free taste just as good (if not better!) than normal sweet goods. I am excited to help others living with dietary restrictions enjoy the foods they crave!
