D&G Heritage Bakery

Hello, my name is Amanda Haggard, of D&G Heritage Bakery. My husband Steven and I are blessed to raise our five children on our farm, here in Charlotte, Tn. While our farm is raising Katahdin lamb, Mangalitsa pork, and free range chicken and eggs, black walnuts, elderberries, and various fruit, my business is selling baked goods.
I began baking the bread for my family, as a young girl of 13, on my family’s farm in northern Wisconsin. While I was growing up, my grandmothers lived less than a mile apart from each other, and less than 2 miles from me. So I had the unique opportunity to learn from two incredible bakers. Delores, my Bohemian (modern day Czech Republic) maternal Grandmother, had 12 children, and baked fresh bread for her family every single day. Besides her skill in the kitchen, she was also known for her gardening and canning. Grace, my Swedish paternal Grandmother, had 7 sons. She ran a thriving interior design and sewing business, but also found time to do all her baking, from scratch. The rolling pin I still use today, was a gift from her. My mother perfected the cinnamon roll recipe I use, and still gives me tips and tricks to this day. I’m honored to use their recipes, in my kitchen. I bake soulful, old fashioned goodness from hand written recipes, tested and tried by the women in my family. Swedish rye breads, hearty whole grain Bohemian breads, luscious cinnamon rolls, pies with perfect flaky crusts (that pie crust recipe is from my great-grandmother!) Everything I make is from scratch, by hand, and with love! The women in my family passed on their passion for making delicious food, to me. It’s more than a hobby, baking is my heritage. I’m blessed and honored to carry on this flavorful heritage, and I hope to share it with you!
